Virtual Student Gallery

I am absolutely blessed to have such wonderful young artists within my classroom year after year. Students are always encouraged to give everything they have through effort, self-expression, and creativity. In our classroom, we strive to create a culture of respect and positivity that is conducive to promote learning and artistic growth.

3D1 Studio Artists in Action and locked in! Let's gooooooooooooooo!!!!

Picture
In art, students are always planning, adapting, improvising, overcoming problems, expressing themselves and their ideas, collaborating, and just plain creating new things. They are continually critiquing their work, the work of their peers, and the works of other artists. They are learning to reflect and think creatively to find their 'visual' voice through a variety of media and techniques. They are not just students; they are ALL artists!

Wax Resist "Woven" Painting Project (2D2 Studio Art)
Picture
These abstract paintings, inspired by woven strips, were created with a variety of media. Students used markers, crayons, colored pencils and watercolor paint. Students also had to use overlapping and the shading technique to create the illusion of depth as each ribbon went over and under.

"Always Watching You" Animal Relief Carving Project (3D1 Studio Art)
Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
Yikes! Take a look at the cat's eye's. He's watching you!!! These projects were created using a high density carving foam, acrylic paint, and other materials, such as polymer clay, felt, buttons, etc. They eyes were 'incused' into the sculpture which creates the illusion that they're following you around. Kind of creepy, but really cool. Students had fun with creating some dark(ish) themes, but what can you expect from middle schoolers:)

In 2D1 Studio Art, our core focus is learning about the elements of art, principles of design, basic color theory, art history, terms, techniques, and different media. This forms the foundation for students when they take 2D2 and 3D1 Studio Art.
Picture
Radial Pattern Project (2D1 Studio Art). During this project students learned about symmetry, radial symmetry and asymmetry. Students learned about how Moroccan artists, Spanish artists, and Gothic artists from Northern Europe used radial patterns within their works.
Picture
African Savannah Project (2D1 Studio Art) Students applied several techniques to create these warm paintings. They used limited color schemes to create a cohesive composition, along with overlapping and value to create the illusion of distance.
Picture
This spontaneous abstract project allowed students to incorporate their name within the design itself. The fun part of this project is that its naturally very relaxing and no one knows for sure how their artwork will turn out.

Each one of these students helped to not only make our project a success, but also contributed to creating a welcoming environment filled with collaboration, respect, and positivity. Also, thank you to the parents and those who partnered with our club. Together, we can achieve anything!

Architectural Landmark Ink and Watercolor Project.
(2D2 Studio Art)

Students chose a landmark from a part of the world that they were interested in and created fline contour drawings. They then used a wet-on-wet technique to create a loose and expressive watercolor painting. This project required students to research their chosen landmark and write a short essay about it, along with the country it is found in.
